>We’re engineers, global sourcing gurus, customer service superheroes, and more — but we’re also real people. In our blog series, “Employee Spotlight”, you’ll meet MPI employees, learn about their background and roles, and discover what they like most about working at MPI.

On Monday,  a beloved member of our team celebrated his 6th anniversary at MPI. Sam is a big part of the MPI fabric personally and professionally. His work ethic is unquestionable, and he is the essence of what a devoted team member does as he is willing to help anyone do anything.

With a few questions, let’s get a little insight into our Quality & Engineering Manager.

Q: Do you remember your first day at MPI?

I had a great first day at work. The people made me feel welcome and I feel I’ve made some new friends already.

Q: How has your job changed over the years?

To tell you the true it has changed little since I started 29 years ago, manufacturing process and technology has made a lot easier, but you need to know your quality fundamentals “fit for purpose” (the product should be suitable for the intended purpose); and “right first time” (mistakes should be eliminated).

Q: What has your experience been with our company culture?

Will tell you in five words:
Flexible
Collaborative
Fast paced
Passionate
Familia! (Family)

Q: What is your favorite thing about working at MPI?

3 Days weekend (ok 2.5 days) I have not worked on a weekend in the past six years. Obviously the whole MPI’s team, including our MPI China team members. Which are the reason that I get up every morning and look to come to work and spend some time (10 Hours) with my friends.

Q: What is the favorite part about your job?

I don’t do the same think repeatedly, every day is different with a new challenge and opportunity to make a difference.

Q: In three words, how would a friend describe you?

Loud, Sociable & Truthfully

Q: What has been you’re the biggest “lesson learned“ in the past year

Wake up and THANK GOD first every morning everything after that is a blessing. And don’t go to bed too late I’m not 25 years old anymore.

Q: What’s your favorite sport?

Back in Guatemala I play Futbol and Baseball, when I got to USA, I love Football and my Bears.
